This review is from: Intel 335 Series 2.5-Inch 240GB SATA3 Solid State Drive SSDSC2CT240A4K5 (Personal Computers) I replaced the stock 500GB hard drive in my MacBook Pro with this drive and the results are nothing short of incredible. Everything loads much faster, especially noticeable in boot times. The computer is now quieter than before without a hard disk spinning at all times. I highly recommend this upgrade. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Intel 335 Series 2.5-Inch 240GB SATA3 Solid State Drive SSDSC2CT240A4K5 (Personal Computers) I have 5 drives on my system, my OS drive at ~210GB that I salvaged from my old computer years ago, 3x 1TB I got each year for the last 3 years and a ~240GB external drive I got years ago so I'm not lacking in storage, but I was in speed. I'd heard all the hype that everyone was giving SSD's so I figured I'd finally give them a try after being skeptical for a while and get one to replace my OS drive.Intel says to download their software at intel.com/go/ssdinstallation if you want to clone your previous drive and I did this but unfortunately it didn't work the first time or the 2nd time after I downloaded it. One thing I did notice was that as soon as the download started it already had a 60MB of the 93MB file downloaded for whatever strange reason. When I tried to open it, it would do nothing, so what I did was go to the link again and try to download it again, the first time it already had 60MB like before, the 2nd time though it started at 0MB all the way up to 93MB, the first file would not open like the previous two but the 2nd file finally actually did something. Once installed the software will let you choose which HD to clone and restart, from there it took the program about an hour to make a complete copy of my drive without any noticeable issues, even after the 2nd day of use. I would keep your old drive though just in case of course. The bootup all the way to logon wasn't what everyone was clamoring about. While it was faster, it wasn't crazy fast. But once logged in, everything is just ready to go! No need to give your computer a minute to catch up. 50 tabs in Chrome? Open them right up and start browsing! Just browsing your files? Go ahead and do that. In this regard, yes it pretty much is a night and day situation. I'm currently contemplating transferring all my steam files over to this HD from my 1TB drive to see if it affects any games but haven't done so just yet, might do a fresh install of Windows 7 again . I'd definitely recommend this, this is coming from someone who'd originally didn't think it would be a huge difference for something so expensive compared to much larger alternatives. Another benefit from purchasing from this particular buyer if you're living in California? It's tax free, this on an already amazing price that I couldn't find elsewhere. By John L. Would have been five stars only if it would have installed itself! |
