4.0 out of 5 stars Nifty little keyboard, March 21, 2012

This is a great little keyboard. I use it to take notes in class more efficiently and as a case to protect my screen.

Pros
-Snaps into place (took a minute to figure it out though, because you have to push a bit harder than you think).
-Easy to sync, stays connected
-Extremely lightweight
-Matches the silver backing of the ipad so it looks really cool when closed, plus you can show off your engraving if you have one. (I have is "si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes." Hee hee.)
-All of the function keys on the top row work splendidly and are quite handy.
-Although small, it is only about an inch shorter than a normal Mac keyboard so it is not hard to adjust to using.

Cons
-The right hand shift key is a little stange, but it's not much of a problem for me because I typically use the left one anyway.
-A little unbalanced: when the ipad is in the stand, the front part of the keyboard lifts off of the surface it is resting on due to the weight of the ipad (aka it's a bit top heavy). Needless to say it has tipped over a few times, but if you use it on a firm surface instead of your lap there is little issue.
-Some of the black rubber lining around the edge of the keyboard does not line up with the silver casing (there is a small gap), but it is barely noticable.
-The left hand command key has broken off already! I've had the keyboard about a week and a half.

I really enjoy using this keyboard, and it is great for the price. I would buy it again, provided no more keys fall off!

UPDATE 4/5 (Three weeks later):
-In the past week or so, I have had connectivity issues. If I stop typing for a minute or so, the bluetooth disconnects. I figured out that if I press a button repeatedly it will reconnect, but it is still quite annoying.
-The keys have begun to stick. Not physically stick, as in they are pressed into the keyboard and won't come out, but as in I will be typing, look up, and see that instead of typing, the keyboard has instead chosen to leave me a dozen or so 'e's in the place of my sentence.
-The back scratches incredibly easily. The zipper of an inner pocket wrought havoc one day, and I am sad.

This keyboard rocks, for the price it is the most amazing thing I've bought for my iPad.

Come on, for a slick bluetooth keyboard that also works as a "case" (screen cover), does the magnetic turn off thing, and has decent keys? The first keyboard I had for my iPad was rubber and very difficult to type with, this one looked more chiclet style, and is much better for typing.

I have a friend with the logitech keyboard that is very similar, and it is better, but it's much more expensive. One thing that I like about the logitech is that it holds the ipad more firmly, this one is a bit of a balancing act.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone, it's great.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok, March 5, 2012

I was glad to receive a keyboard for my ipad, and hoped it would increase it's functionality. So I will try to go over everything I've observed since I've had it in my possession.
The packaging is pretty generic, which I think means all of these keyboards that look like this model are exactly the same. There is no where on the packaging that says sharkk (except the keyboard itself). The english on the packaging is also really, really bad. Almost not deciherable. If you need instruction connecting the bluetooth (admittedly, you shouldn't, as it is an easy task), I'm going to say look elsewhere for direction.

The exterior is aluminum, and I know aluminum is soft, but the case stratches easily. Granted, I've babied my ipad but I've had it almost a year, and has very minumum stratching. The keyboard casing after only a few days has a number of bad stratches. Not complaining though, as it was cheap. A sidenote, it also arrived with some very minor imperfec tions, which is less acceptable than me giving it the stratches.

The keyboard is good. It is small (obviously), and some buttons seem to need a harder press than others. I suspect that will get better with time. They are not loud at all, they have a nice soft touch to them. The adjustment time to this keyboard I'd suspect would be short for most. There are also some nice multimedia buttons at the top, seemingly designed specifically for an ipad. They all work well (and I really love the brightener/dimmer buttons), BUT the www button does absolutely nothing. Disappointing.

Probably the biggest flaw for me are the 4 arrow buttons. I've tried and tried and are unable to get them to do anything.. They seem to only be there because that's how a keyboard looks. Fn button also does nothing (there are only 4 buttons it should work on, all of which are the arrow keys).

It connects to the ipad effortlessly and I've not had to reconnect it yet, even after I turn it off and back on.

It sungly fits the ipad, almost too snugly, and can be difficult to get off. But there is real protection there for the face of your ipad. You shouldnt have to worry about the keyboard spontaneously falling off. It also has nice rubber feet to keep the ipad elevated when closed.

It utilizes the magnets! I love this feature. No more sliding for me.

Overall, I think it's an ok keyboard. It is certainly not worth 40 or more dollars, but it does make typing a lot easier, and since I use my ipad more than my computer, I find it a handy addition. I've had it for less than a week, so if it breaks down on me, or the arrow keys suddenly begin working, I will come back to update.
